Winter wonderland wows children

On December 14, the Guardians of Hope, a group of local volunteers, brought holiday magic to families with immunocompromised, chronically ill and critically ill children.

“It was amazing to see donors, volunteers and our community coming together to create holiday magic,” said Carrianne Stoker-Postier, pediatric social worker. “We sincerely appreciate all who helped bring this wonderful festival together and are grateful to have experienced families being celebrated and surrounded by love.”

More than 100 pediatric patients and their families enjoyed the Winter Wonderland Festival, which was held at the Glacier Conference Center on the Kalispell Regional Healthcare campus. The evening helped children forget the stress of medical treatments and hospital stays and instead enjoy holiday activities, including:

  • Chick-Fil-A holiday feast
  • Santa visit and toys
  • Santa photos
  • North Pole photo booth
  • Christmas light trolley rides
  • Festival of trees
  • Music by Smart Alex and FVCC carolers
  • Holiday light show
  • Santa’s workshop – gifting wood-turned toys
  • Art mural paint play
  • Story time with Mrs. Claus – “Twas the Night Before Christmas”
  • Reindeer games
  • Ornament decorating with Santa’s elves
  • Christmas card crafts
  • Cocoa and coffee corner
  • Sweet shoppe cookie decorating

“It was wonderful to see parents watching their child’s face light up with excitement,” said Marcy Wasiluk, KRH pediatric service line manager. “Our generous community, volunteers and staff filled Santa’s gift bag and warmed tummies with holiday treats. The Guardians of Hope wrapped our families with love and brought holiday magic.”

Kalispell Regional Healthcare and Montana Children’s Specialists would like to thank the donors, volunteers and community for partnering in this event and making holiday magic happen for these children.
