Montana Children’s Specialists Missoula office opens in August
Montana Children’s Specialists, the largest pediatric subspecialist group in the state, will open the doors of its Missoula satellite office in early August.
Located at 1821 South Avenue, the satellite location will be open Monday through Friday and will offer appointments for pediatric patients needing specialty care in the areas of gastroenterology, neurology and endocrinology/diabetes, with other pediatric specialties available as needed. Specialists staffing the clinic beginning in August include:
- Thomas E. Flass, MD, pediatric gastroenterology
- Daniel Lustig, MD, pediatric gastroenterology
- Marcus Wheeler, MD, pediatric neurology
- Alan Rice, MD, pediatric endocrinology and diabetes
Additionally, the office will be equipped with technology enabling access to providers through telemedicine, a secure, two-way, real-time video communications system.
“It’s important that patients have access to pediatric subspecialty care in their own communities,” said Jason Spring, Kalispell Regional Healthcare (KRH) Chief Strategic Officer. “We want to keep patients close to home.”
With more than 30 pediatric providers, a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit and many other specialized children’s health services, KRH has become the center of a growing collection of pediatric services. Since pediatric specialty services became available at KRH in 2015, more than 5,000 Montana children have received specialty care locally, rather than traveling elsewhere.
“We’re pleased to extend our pediatric subspecialty services to children in Missoula,” said Spring. “All of Montana’s families deserve to have local access to skilled specialists and not suffer the burden and expense of traveling for care.”
