KRH hospitals honored with Organ and Tissue Donation Awards

Local organ procurement organization, LifeCenter Northwest is proud to announce the presentation of their Hospital Awards presented to Kalispell Regional Medical Center (KRMC), North Valley Hospital (NVH) and The HealthCenter (HC) for superior performance in organ donation in 2018.

All three hospitals were presented with donation achievements for their work in 2018 including:

· KRMC, NVH and HC were three of only 10 hospitals to receive the Tissue Donation Achievement Award, which recognizes hospitals for their dedication to timely referral calls, caring for potential patients, and collaborating with LifeCenter Northwest for tissue donation.

· KRMC was one of only 25 hospitals to receive the Collaboration Achievement Award, which recognizes hospital collaboration on conversations about organ donation with families, ensuring the best possible family experience.

· NVH and HC were two of only 25 hospitals to receive the Tissue Donation Referral Achievement Award, which recognizes hospitals for their consistency in maintaining a high timely referral rate, a testament to their dedication.

Nationally there are more than 114,000 patients waiting for an organ transplant. Because of their dedication to quality care and organ and tissue donation, more lives will be saved and healed.

The full list of hospital achievement awards and recipients will be included in LifeCenter Northwest’s 2018 Annual Report. The report will be published in April and available online at www.lcnw.org.

“It is an honor to work with such dedicated hospital partners,” says LifeCenter Northwest President and CEO, Kevin O’Connor. “We greatly appreciate the contributions they make every day to help save and heal lives through organ and tissue donation.”

LifeCenter Northwest is the federally designated organ procurement organization serving Alaska, Montana, North Idaho, and Washington-the largest geographic donation service area in United States.

On March 18, KRMC had the honor of celebrating a young patient with an Honor Walk. The Honor Walk is a respectful moment when friends, family and hospital staff line the halls as an organ donor hero makes their way towards saving others’ lives. Doctors estimated that 300 hospital staff, friends and family lined the halls for the walk.

“Participating in that is one of the most memorable things I have ever witnessed here,” says Andrea Goff, Lab Services Coordinator at Kalispell Regional Medical Center. “I will never forget it and I was very glad to part of it.”
