Heart Healthy Recipe: Slow-Cooker Apple Maple Oatmeal

MAKES 3 SERVINGS

INGREDIENTS:

4 ¾ cups of water

1 ½ cups of uncooked steel-cut oats

1 large tart apple (such as Granny Smith), peled and chopped

¼ cup pure maple syrup

1 tsp. ground cinnamon

1 tsp. vanilla extract

¼ tsp. salt

 

DIRECTIONS:

1. Lightly spray the slowe cooker with cooking spray.

2. Put all ingredients in the slow cooker, stirring to combine.

3. Cover and cook on low for 6 to 7 hours or until the oats are tender and the water is absorbed.
