Breastfeeding Education and Support

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that all infants exclusively breastfeed for the first six months of life followed by continued breastfeeding for at least the first year.

For this reason, the certified lactation consultants at Kalispell Regional Medical Center provide nursing moms with breastfeeding support and education. We provide up-to-date information with a caring, personal approach to help women gain confidence and learn what to expect when they breastfeed. Our lactation consultants encourage the involvement of family members and friends, who can help support breastfeeding.

Services Offered

  • Prenatal breastfeeding classes
  • Breast pumps and breastfeeding supplies
  • A breastfeeding station when you’re away from home
  • Professional education in breastfeeding and lactation
  • Weekly breastfeeding support group

"Unquestionably, breast milk is far superior to any formula designed for babies, and even more critical for the health of the premature baby. The challenge lies in making breastfeeding, or providing a mother's own milk for her baby, a comfortable, enjoyable and manageable part of the new mother's life."
