Sharon Zemel, MD, joined Kalispell Regional Healthcare to open its new Pediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes Center in September 2015. Dr. Zemel received her undergraduate degree from Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts, and her medical degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia. She completed her residency in pediatrics at Stanford University in Stanford, California, and a fellowship in endocrinology at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland. Dr. Zemel then conducted research and practiced clinical medicine at Yale University in New Haven, Connecticut, and later at The Children’s Hospital of Denver. Subsequently, she decided to focus solely on clinical medicine and moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where she worked at Allegheny General Hospital and then The Children’s Institute before establishing a private practice in pediatric endocrinology and diabetes. Dr. Zemel moved to Montana in 2013 to work at St. Vincent’s Children’s Healthcare in Billings. She is excited to provide care to children, teens and their families, locally at Kalispell Regional Medical Center as well as at multiple outreach sites. She enjoys working closely with community primary care providers and other specialists. Dr. Zemel's areas of expertise include type 1 diabetes and insulin pump management, type 2 diabetes, obesity, thyroid disease, puberty, growth and development, bone metabolism, adrenal disorders and pituitary disease.
