Margaret Ansell Satchell, MD, joined Kalispell Regional Healthcare in October 2016 to care for critically ill young patients and to serve as medical director for its new Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. Dr. Satchell comes to Kalispell from Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, New York, where she was an assistant professor in pediatric critical care medicine with the Kravis Children’s Hospital since 2002. She completed her medical studies at Dartmouth Medical School in Hanover, New Hampshire, and her pediatric internship and residency at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania. She followed that with a pediatric critical care fellowship at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh through the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, and subsequently an NICHD (National Institute of Child Health and Human Development) research fellowship with the Safar Center for Resuscitation Research at the University of Pittsburgh. Early in her health care career, she cared for patients as a clinical dietitian at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida, and at Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C. In 2001 Dr. Satchell was appointed as a clinical instructor of pediatric critical care medicine with Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, and then made the move to Mount Sinai Medical Center in 2002. In her time away from the hospital, she enjoys reading, travel, skiing and hiking. She’s also a fan of Pittsburgh Penguins hockey.
