Dr. Ford Shippey joined Rocky Mountain Heart & Lung, a department of Kalispell Regional Medical Center, in April 2019. He serves as the medical director of sleep medicine at the KRH Sleep Center. Dr. Shippey is also part of Montana Children’s and its team of more than 40 pediatric specialists. He works with adults as well as pediatric patients to treat all sleep disorders. His focus is on helping promote healthy sleep awareness and helping patients understand how sleep is related to mood, pain, and daytime functioning. His professional interests include community outreach to promote sleep health awareness, collaboration with dental professionals to treat obstructive sleep apnea and a holistic approach to patient care (bio-psycho-social/spiritual).
Dr. Shippey earned a Bachelor of Science in physics at Davidson College, a master of science of biomedical sciences at the Medical University of South Carolina, and medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medical School. He served his residency in internal medicine/pediatrics at the University of Hawaii and the sleep medicine training at the Sleep Center Hawaii in Honolulu. When he is not working, Dr. Shippey enjoys downhill skiing, international travel and mission trips, and anything being active in the outdoors.
