We realize that there are hundreds of medications offered in the treatment of chronic pain. Our staff of physicians, physicians assistants and nurse practitioners work diligently to provide comprehensive care plans using all treatment modalities available to alleviate the pain and suffering of our patients. These care plans are designed to minimize the use of addictive and dangerous medications while improving each patient's quality of life.
We conduct weekly patient care conferences in which all members of the medical and complementary and alternative medicine team gather to discuss best treatment approaches for patients. We have monthly in-services and guest speakers to help us achieve our goal of providing the most current effective treatments to our patients.
We meet regularly with primary care physicians, mental health professionals, and regulatory administrators for workers' compensation, Medicaid and the Drug Enforcement Administration to ensure compliance and to promote consistency in the care of our patients.
When controlled substances are prescribed, we closely monitor our patients' use through the following responsible prescribing guidelines at The Montana Center:
Learn more about pain management and opioid medication.
- Each patient signs and is held accountable to our controlled substances agreement.
- We perform routine and random urine drug screening.
- We perform routine and random pill counts.
- We do not replace lost or stolen medications or prescriptions.
- We follow up on reports of potential diversion of medication.
