Montana Perinatal Center awarded ultrasound practice accreditation

The Ultrasound Practice Accreditation Council of the American Institute of Ultrasound in Medicine recently announced that Montana Perinatal Center has been awarded ultrasound practice accreditation.

Montana Perinatal Center achieved this recognition by meeting rigorous voluntary guidelines set by the diagnostic ultrasound profession. All facets of the practice were assessed, including the training and qualifications of physicians and sonographers; ultrasound equipment maintenance; documentation, storage and record-keeping practices; policies and procedures to protect patients and staff; quality assurance methods; and the thoroughness, technical quality and interpretation of the sonograms the practice performs.

Under the direction of Dr. Debra Guinn, Montana Perinatal Center provides a multidisciplinary approach to high-risk pregnancies. Their goal is to identify at-risk pregnancies and reduce those risks through collaboration and planning. In addition to consultation, Montana Perinatal Center offers advanced diagnostics such as high-definition ultrasounds, fetal echocardiograms and genetic screenings to help pinpoint and prepare for any neonatal complications. With the addition of numerous pediatric subspecialists to the KRH family, including pediatric surgeons, accurate diagnosis of potential birth defects in advance of delivery is essential. Previously babies were either diagnosed following delivery and were transferred out of state for surgical and long-term management, or their mothers were sent to outside facilities for diagnosis and delivery. This is no longer necessary for the vast majority of babies in need. Through collaboration and planning, Montana Perinatal Center aims to be the foundation for a comprehensive service line, providing care to families for a lifetime. Montana Perinatal Center is located at 210 Sunnyview Lane, Suite 103, in Kalispell and can be reached at (406) 257-3872.
